The inaugural class of the Community and Police Leadership Collaborative is holding a Block Party on July 22.
The “Summer Connection” block party will be held Saturday, June 10 at the Dream Center located at 200 West 46th St North. The event will last from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is the culminating event for the inaugural Community & Police Leadership Collaborative which brought 12 officers and 12 community members together to enhance social capital, bridge divides and build the bonds of between and among citizens and those charged with protecting and serving them.
As part of the program these class members were asked to create a class project that would create camaraderie and further team cohesion among the members of the CAPLC class and leave something of lasting value that will positively impact community/police relations in Tulsa. The “Summer Connection” event will feature carnival style games, a photo booth, henna tattoos, and cook-out style foods as well as the premiering of a video about the class experience. The event is free and open to the public.
