Our DEI Audit Roadmap is designed to help Leadership Tulsa make significant and lasting changes. It focuses on making our organization more fair, inclusive, and proficient in promoting equity through our community leadership, programs, and services.
Our audit process included a comprehensive review of our organization, gathering in-depth data from different sources such as strategic plans, stakeholder experiences, employee handbooks, board bylaws, policies, and more. Recommendations are based on interviews, focus group findings, qualitative and quantitative data review, and analysis led by Elsa Marquez of The Leadership Consultancy.
Recommendation 1: Leverage our strengths. Our team’s skills and programs have helped build a vibrant Tulsa community. We need to further invest in developing and using these assets.
Recommendation 2: Embody our mission and DEI statements. Everyone in Leadership Tulsa (staff and board) must fully understand and practice our mission and DEI statements to succeed.
Recommendation 3: Regularly evaluate and adjust. Across the organization, our success depends on using relevant data to make decisions and continually adjusting our actions to achieve the best results.
We see the DEI Audit as an important step toward becoming a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization. Our long-term goal is to integrate these values at the core of our organization and the community.
As we move forward, the DEI Audit will:
- –Help us live and support the Leadership Tulsa mission every day.
- –Allow us to make more informed decisions as we enhance our ability to promote equity within the organization and as community leaders.
- –Guide our organization as we develop a common language for DEI work, improving the experiences of our staff, leadership, and the community we support.
- –Promote direct and impactful action based on a clear understanding of our purpose and the necessary steps.
