The Leadership Tulsa board is pleased to announce that Marcia Bruno-Todd has been selected to serve as Leadership Tulsa’s next executive director. Marcia will begin in the role on July 1, 2023, as current Executive Director Wendy Thomas transitions after 21 years of service to the organization.
Marcia initially joined Leadership Tulsa in January 2018 to lead the organization’s programs and community impact initiatives. She has served as Leadership Tulsa’s deputy director for the last year. During her tenure, the Leadership Tulsa program portfolio has grown from the core LT360 program to include Hispanic Leadership Institute, Thrive Tulsa, LT Represent, New Voices, and most recently, Tulsa Changemakers.
During the search process led by a committee of seven board members and supported by Talent Acquisition Group, a Tulsa-based boutique executive search firm, Leadership Tulsa received applications from nearly 100 interested parties spanning a broad range of talent and experience. The search committee interviewed 10 semi-finalist candidates and then invited four finalists to participate in an in-person case study presentation. The enthusiasm for Marcia’s talent and leadership was incredible within the search committee. As a result, the Leadership Tulsa board voted to adopt the committee’s strong recommendation to appoint Marcia to serve as Leadership Tulsa’s next executive director.
“As Leadership Tulsa celebrates 50 years, I am honored to lead the organization into its next 50 years of excellence and community impact. We must engage and support leaders from across the private, public, and nonprofit sectors, as well as formal and informal community institutions, in order to build a thriving Tulsa for all.” Marcia states.
From Bruce Sorrell, Leadership Tulsa’s board president, “I’m pleased with the process we undertook to identify the organization’s next Executive Director and, even more pleased with the result. Marcia has been a vibrant part of the Tulsa community since she originally came here as a Corps Member of Teach For America in 2013. She is proud to call Tulsa home and to raise her family in this community.”
For 50 years, Leadership Tulsa has been creating leadership development opportunities for the Tulsa community regardless of financial, professional, or social status. The board believes Marcia is uniquely suited to build upon this foundation and further elevate the organization to provide more access for Tulsa’s seasoned and aspirational leaders.
